Welcome to Odisha Kraft
Stone carving in Odisha began in the 13th century, influenced by medieval North Indian architecture from the Kalinga School. Odisha’s stone carving tradition is vibrant, with Kalinga School artisans creating masterpieces like the Sun Temple in Konark and Bhubaneswar temples. Konark is a key hub for stone carving, using soft stone, red sandstone, and granite. Artisans there craft icons and figures in various dance poses, while sandstone is used for household items and granite for temple-inspired figures.
